TMJ

Man checking his Jaw

What is TMJ?

TMJ is an abbreviation for temporomandibular joint—that’s the joint where your lower jaw meets your skull. Irregularities in this joint can cause facial pain or headaches and other problems, such as teeth-grinding.

We can perform an examination of this joint’s anatomy and function to determine if a mouth guard is needed to prevent damage to your teeth. We can also recommend other therapies that can reduce pain or popping in this joint or, in more severe cases, help patients find proper treatment.
